Note: Most of the forms are derived and adjusted from Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University.
Procedure & Time Frame
- Student submits to the Program Coordinator — at least 1 month before the Exam Day
- Request for Thesis Proposal Approval Form (F36)
- Thesis/Dissertation Proposal Form (either M0-M5 or D0-D5)
- CV of committees (if they are not the faculty member of our program) and external committees
- CV format for external Thai committees here
- Program Committee appoints the Thesis/Dissertation Proposal Examination Committee. — at least 2 weeks before the Exam Day
- Student sets up the date, time, and location of the exam with the Examination Committee, and informs the program coordinator to issue the Invitation Letters. — at least 10 days before the Exam Day
- The Program Coordinator can help book the venue if in the Faculty of Science
- Student informs the Program Coordinator to whom (usually the External Committee’s boss/supervisor/head of their department) the Invitation Letter will be issued to. (Student is advised to ask their advisor for this)
- It can be held in the form of hybrid examination: fully online examinations are not allowed.
- The external committees are not required to attend.
- Student sends the Proposal Form to the Examination Committee. — at least 7 days before the Exam Day
- Take the exam. Bring the Examination Form (Thai or English) to the exam. Make sure one of the Program Committees signs at the bottom of the form. Scan and send to the Program Coordinator. There is no other evaluation form.
- Results of the exam
- Pass, proceed to step 7
- Fail, repeat step 3-5
- Student revises the Proposal Form accordingly to the comments from the Examination Committee, then asks for you advisor’s signature in the Proposal Form, and sends it to the Program Coordinator.
- The Program Committee suggests revision, and returns the Proposal Form to the student to revise — approx 2 weeks – 1 month after the Exam Day
- Student revises, advisor approves by signing at the bottom, and sends to the Program Coordinator
- Program Coordinator arranges all documents, and sends to Graduate School for the approval.
- The Committee at Graduate School considers the proposal. If approved, the program will be notified, and the proposal will be announced via this site — Proposal Announcement All and for Proposal Announcement_2567(2024). — Approx 3 weeks after Step 9.

The Graduate School has set the last day of Proposal Approval on Jul 18, 2025. This refers to Step 10 in the procedure mentioned above.
Thesis/Dissertation Defense
Procedure & Time Frame
- Student informs the Program Coordinator — At least 1 month before the Defense
- Student sets up the date, time, and location of the exam with the Defense Committee — At least 1 month before the Defense
- Student informs the Program Coordinator to issue the Invitation Letters. — at least 20 days before the Defense Day
- Student informs the Program Coordinator that the Thesis/Dissertation draft is already 100% finished in the iThesis system, and confirmed by the advisor.
- Program Coordinator can help book the venue if in the Faculty of Science.
- Student informs the Program Coordinator to whom (usually the External Committee’s boss/supervisor/head of their department) the External Committee’s Invitation Letter will be issued to. (Student is advised to ask their advisor for this)
- It can be held in the form of hybrid examination. Hybrid Defense must be approved by the Graduate School, so inform the Program Coordinator in advance.
- Program Coordinator sends Invitation Letters and Reimbursement Form for Committee (F40) to student. — At least 10 days before the Defense
- Student sends to the Committee — At least 1 week before the Defense

- Fills, prints, and brings

- Fills (try using translation tools or asking Thai friends), prints and bring Defense Result Report Form (F39) to the Chairman.
- If the Defense is conducted in the Hybrid mode, screen-capture the video call with faces of committee as a prove that they participate the defense online.

- Hand all files to the Program Coordinator.
